Let’s be honest: we could all afford to be a little healthier, especially in our daily habits and routines. Thinking objectively about the way we live our lives is not at all easy, because in the middle of our lives, we can’t find the time to think about what we’re doing – it’s like we’re on autopilot. So here are some ways to stop, think about your day, and make small changes that will make a big difference in your health and overall lifestyle.
Prepare your own food
When we get hungry, we need to give our bodies some nutrition ASAP. And if we don’t have any healthy options prepared for us to grab and go, we will reach for something else: usually a highly processed, sugary snack that will give us a quick rush of energy. Precut your fruit, portion seeds and nuts and blend up your smoothies. When you are feeling peckish, you will certainly grab the first thing at hand, so make sure it’s something healthy.
Give yourself plenty of time in the morning
When you wake up in the morning, all too often we start the day with the stress of running late and not having enough time to get ready, have breakfast or get to where we need to be. Try to go to sleep earlier and wake up with plenty of time. Establish a routine that will allow you to easily wake up, get ready, have a healthy breakfast (prepared the night before if you want to save even more time), and most importantly – leave the house without feeling stressed.
There is a reason why people say that smoking reduces stress: far be it from healthy, it is a habit of spending five minutes, 15 times per day, breathing deeply. Take the time from your day to spend some time with yourself. Take breaks, breathe deeply and let your mind wander. Doing nothing is a technique that most of the world’s top experts employ, because that is how you keep a clear head and when you will get the best ideas.
Spend more time outside
We really don’t spend enough time outdoors, when you consider the work we do, the time spent in transport and spending time with friends. But getting out is not that hard to achieve! Instead of spending time in a car, get a Bosch electric bike from Eurocycles and cycle to work. When you are having your next meeting – make it a walk: there are a lot of benefits to walking and talking, so use them to their fullest. Instead of going to the gym and spending even more time indoors, go for a run outside or find an outdoor gym. The world around you is full of things you can use as equipment, so get creative and be active while also being outside.
Spend quality time with people
More people than ever in the world feel lonely, because even though we are all connected, we don’t spend quality time with our loved ones. Try to spend more time with the people you care about, preferably doing something active and outdoors. Go for a walk, play sports together or learn some new skills. It will do both your mental and physical health good.
Remember that we have this one body and one mind, and if we don’t take care of them, we won’t be able to do all the things we love. Don’t wait for things to fall into place to start enjoying yourself and don’t wait for things to go wrong before you start taking care of yourself. It doesn’t take much time to start adopting these healthy habits and you will see the difference immediately!
